Favorite Spring Wedding Flowers
Spring Wedding Flowers
As a St. Paul Wedding Florist, one of my main pain points is our Minnesotan, long, cold, snowy winters that sometimes drag, in my opinion, too far into our precious Spring. Don't get me wrong, I do love living here where we get to experience all 4 seasons, where my dear family lives, and…. my husband would be very hard to convince to move somewhere else. All that being said, Spring is one of the most glorious seasons in Minnesota. The birds fly back from the South and are chirping each morning, I get to transport my flowers I've been growing from seed into my cut flower garden, the sun stays longer, and the trees and plants around us begin blooming. All of these reasons make Spring a beautiful season to get married, especially since there is an abundance of local flowers to choose from.
If you're getting married in Spring, here is a list of my favorite Spring flowers that will greatly elevate your wedding design.
Anemone
Anemones are show stoppers. They come in a variety of colors, but I tend to love the white ones. The center can either be pale green or black, even appearing to be a dark blue navy color.
Daphne
Starry, highly fragrant flowers with an attractive foliage.
Hellebore
If I could have a crush on a flower, it would be Hellebores. They are both charming and darling. They’re one of the first flowers that bloom in my garden and to me, show that Spring is here.
Hyacinth
Best. Smelling. Flower. Ever. I don't always like flowers that are overly fragrant, but the Hyacinth to me smells like what I'd imagine Heaven to smell like. They have a fun texture and they come in a variety of colors.
Lily of the valley
Look beautiful in bunches on their own. Stand alone beauties for the delicate bride.
Magnolia
A magnificent flower that deserves to be showcased on its own.
Mock Orange
Perhaps my favorite greenery shrub to use in the Spring. The deep green color accents many different. It blooms the prettiest, little white flowers for 1-2 weeks in Spring, which elevates the design of any bridal bouquet.
Muscari
Most commonly blue, urn-shaped flowers that resemble hyacinths. They are a great bloom for flower crowns.
Narcissus (daffodil)
One of my favorite Spring flowers. They can have one to five flowers per stem. and they come in a wide range of different shapes or sizes and sometimes have a sweet scent.
Peony
Likely one of the most beloved Spring wedding flower, the Peony! These grow in abundance in the Springtime and add a fluffy, cloud-like, sophisticated design to bridal bouquets
Ranunculus
Perfect for the bride going for a modern, romantic vibe. Also one of the most common wedding flowers.
Spirea
The Bridal Wreath Spirea is a plant that grows pretty little white flowers in the Spring and would make a great addition to a bouquet or flower crown.
Sweet pea
It’s hard not to be obsessed with Sweet Peas. They grow in irresistible colors and have the loveliest fragrance. Their flowers are beautifully ruffled, making them an excellent, airy addition to bouquets.
Tulip
Tulips are whimsical as their stems dance around depending on where the light is. They make bouquets unique, airy, and are a perfect fit for the whimsical, bohemian bride.
This is not an exhaustive list, as there are many other Spring flowers to consider. I think I'll post some more of these soon to cover the other 3 seasons of blooms. I'd love to hear some of your favorite Spring flowers, comment below with your favorite blooms or any questions!
