Vendor Highlight - B.E. Inspired Fitness
This week we are highlighting one of our favorite vendors friends - Megan from B.E. Inspired Fitness, a health coaching business. Megan and I met while she was an usher in a wedding I was working. There was a lot of DIY involved in that wedding setup, so Megan helped me setup and that’s how we got connected, she’s also one of the most funny girls I know! I asked her a number of questions about herself and her business, make sure to check her out below!
1. When & why did you start B.E. Inspired Fitness?
“When : September of 2017
Why: I had been a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor for years and gone to school for Exercise Science. I knew I wanted to be in this industry, but always felt like there was an element missing for my clients. After having a baby and wanting a second and needing to really get clear on my eating habits and my mental health, I finally realized that those were the missing elements, and then discovered Health Coaching.
Because I was a little more holistic, I didn't want to be in the clinical space so I decided to start up my own business where I could help people by educating them and giving them accountability, all while keeping things nice and simple.”
2. Where do you get your own inspiration from?
“My inspiration is mostly an unstoppable NEED to help people who seem so low on energy. I have encountered so many people whose battery life is so low that I can feel it just standing next to them and it's a struggle for me not to shake it out of them right then and there. I know what it feels like to feel like crap all the time, while never actually realizing that you feel like crap. Once you finally make a few small changes and really feel the difference in your body and your mind, it's night and day and you never want to go back.
I want everyone to feel energetic, excited, clear, and healthy. I know that if I can help just a few people realize what they are missing, it will start to become contagious and they will spread it to the people around them.”
3. What's your favorite part of doing what you do?
I love how contagious energy can be. Watching people spread their good energy to others, once they find it, is so fun for me. Seeing someones battery life go from plug me in now, to I never need to be charged again makes me so happy.
I'm a big fan of having everyday support for being healthy, so I also love when people find "their people" and then work together to make changes and maintain them!
4. If you could give newly engaged couples who want to be healthier, 1 piece of advice, what would you tell them?
“Get healthy first!
If you enter into a marriage in a state where you get sick a lot, you don't have great self-confidence because you aren't in the body you really want to be in, if mentally you aren't clear because of brain fog, if you are constantly feeling drained because you don't fuel your body correctly, or if you get headaches constantly from triggers like sugar or dairy, etc. It can be very hard to make those changes together and at a similar pace.
What I mean by this is making a dramatic health changes after entering into a forever contract can be tough on the marriage. If one person is changing faster, or having some mental clarity changes , or if only one person is ready to change and the other isn't ready yet, it can feel like the two of you aren't on the same page, and may bring out certain insecurities early in the marriage. Also if one person wants to make nutritional changes and the other doesn't, not only can that make it ten times harder for the person trying to change, but that can also take a toll finances, dinners together, social groups, among other things.”
5. Anything else you want us to know about you & your business?
“Something I like people to know about me is that while I am not a certified nutritionist or registered dietitian, I do spend quite a bit of time researching how different foods, or food like substances in many cases, effect the human body. I find this fascinating and do work on better food choices with most of my clients.
I also believe that feeling better, energy levels, and mood are much better indicators of health, positive change, and overall wellness than any scale will ever tell you.”
As for my business, I am a health coach, not a fairy godmother. In fact, if we are comparing it to Cinderella I would consider myself more like the Mice, as I will work together with you to create something you didn't know was possible (and help you fight off the mean cats that get in your way); but I have no magic wand that just changes everything before midnight. I make it a point to learn about each person before we work together in order to determine if a health coach is in fact their best option.”
