Michelle from Made for More is one of my BESTEST friends. She has the sweetest soul and brings that into her work. Each piece of her artwork is especially created for the individual it is for. Q: When & why did you start Made for More?
A: I started Made for More officially in January of this year! The idea for starting my own business has been on my mind for over a year and as I spent time fine tuning what I wanted to sell and ultimately what I wanted my business to be about, Made for More was born. I started it because I have always loved making handcrafted gifts for my family and friends and wanted to grow my reach beyond people in my community and bring authenticity and encouragement through my signs into homes all over.
Q: Why did you decide to name your business 'Made for More'?
A: I had been praying about what a good name for my business would be and nothing was really clicking. I feel like God just placed it on my heart to name it Made for More and it fits perfectly! I decided to run with it, centering it around this idea that every material, every item, every home, every outcome, and every person was made for more. There is more to be seen in the mundane moments of our lives and the name Made for More just exudes what it means to be on mission even in the mundane.
Q: Tell us a little bit more about you and your team!
A: I’ve grown up in four different states in the midwest and have lived here in Minnesota for almost 10 years. I think moving from place to place has really given me a heart for bringing life into the home through these pieces. I love spending time with my family and friends! In the winter you can find me crafting, reading a book with a cup of tea, or watching movies. In the summer I love biking, hammocking, and kayaking. And year round I’m always brunching and looking for the best chai latte to try :)
Q: What type of services do you offer?
A: I mainly make custom signs for homes, but am excited about all the ways my business could grow and evolve into making signs for weddings, events, offices, and more. You name it and I would love to work with clients in creating something perfect for them and their spaces!
Q: If you had to describe your business in one word, which word would you use?
A: Oh wow, I would say authentic. At the end of the day with everything I make, I just want to be authentic to who God has called me to be and bring this authenticity into the lives of everyone I meet through Made for More.
Q: What's your favorite part of doing what you do?
A: That I have creative freedom! It’s so fun to think of new creations to make and work with my clients in coming up with the perfect piece for their spaces. The connections and creations that’s what I love!
Q: Who is your ideal client?
A: Oh gosh, anyone and everyone! Families, moms, dads, friends, coworkers, strangers. I think my signs can bring a piece of encouragement to the lives of so many and what better gift than one that can brighten your day everyday?
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I work full time at an architecture firm and create pieces for Made for More in most of my freetime, but aside from those I love reading and watching movies. I think I’m one of the few people that still loves going to the theater and paying for the overpriced ticket just for the experience of it- no phone, lots of good snacks, and a great movie with friends and family. What's better than that? Haha
